The Oliveira de Azeméis Municipal Archive is housed in the building known as "Casa das Escadas Redondas”. It was built in the second half of the XIX century, probably in the year 1881, which is the date inscribed in the main gate.
Until its acquisition by the City Council in 1979, some personalities of Oliveira de Azeméis society had their residence here. Different institutions worked here until 2001. In 2001, it was decided to restore the building creating space conditions for the preservation and dissemination of the archival heritage of the county.
