Solar Corte Real - TH

São João da Pesqueira
Description / Facilities

Owned by the Serpa Corte Real family, the house is situated near the year of the Vilarouco church, an elegant and imposing manor house from the 18 th century, named Solar do Corte Real or Casa do Adro, it is now used as Farm and Village Tourism. The house was once owned by Colonel António Cardoso de Serpa Corte Real, -a Miguelist officer, the last commander of the Trancoso troops and an influential person in the area. Its magnificent Baroque façade shows a rare and beautiful coat of arms with a crown of Earl. The manor house and its private chapel were restored (Sta. Teresa) by the current owner, José Carlos Pereira Corte Real – local poet and writer, a man linked to the region’s folklore and agriculture, who is a direct descendant of the former owners (great-great-grandchild). Situated between the Douro and Torto rivers, in one of the most pleasant places in the council of S. João da Pesqueira and Douro wine region, and surrounded by wonderful vineyards, almond groves and olive groves, this manor house deserves your visit for a quiet time-off in a cosy and family-like atmosphere.
