The geosite is located at the top surface of the Montemuro Mountain, between the S. Pedro do Campo chapel, the v.g. of Pedra Posta and the S. Pedro Mountain, over the biotites-muscovite granite of medium grain and porphyritic texture – spot of Cinfães-Alhões/Granite of Montemuro (Teixeira et al., 1969; Vieira, 2008). In this area and at an altitude superior to 1050 meters, there are several granitic geoforms, whose typology is described in many studies, and that are considered as representative of several granitic geoforms that occur throughout the entire Montemuro Mountain. In the area delimited as geosite, it is important to refer the presence of the tafoni “Casa da Moura”, some “bolideiras” rocks, slabs, pits, pseudo-stratifications, cracks and linear grooves, as well as polygonal cracking (Pedra Boroa of Montemuro). Besides this, given the altitude and the localization in the occidental sector of the Montemuro Mountain, the geosite is also an excellent viewpoint for the granitic landscapes of the Montemuro Mountain, the Douro’s valley and the Marão Mountain, at north, or the Gralheira Massif and the Paiva’s valley, at south. In the eastern part of the region, the identified area dominates the panoramic over the fracture valley of the Bestança river and all its almost straight trace crossing the granitic massif.
