The Arts Centre Nadir Afonso came from the combination of several factors; firstly, the need to provide the City of Boticas a cultural facility that contributes to the development of the county, boosting tourism ; secondly, honor Nadir Afonso , one of the greatest living artists of Portuguese contemporary art that , despite being a cosmopolitan and major cities photographer , heard the call of the land of their ancestors. The building, deployed at the Town Hall and very close to the village center, harmonious and grew volumes combined with the surroundings, in perfect harmony with the landscape , providing a striking architectural element of the urban structure . The garden or the large open window coverage for wide horizons, the visitor is offered an odd view of rare rugged beauty. The project aims to be a Polo Nadir Afonso Foundation, the Village of Boticas, enabling the presentation of varied exhibits and a small auditorium for the presentation of cultural events. This space houses a part of the estate of the painter and aims to be a place of research, learning, documentation and a center for temporary exhibitions. The Arts Centre is proposed to complement the cultural offer of the region , in order to enhance the interior North to create new cultural attractions , not only to residents , as all those who visit the region.
