The abundant water of the rivers was allways present in the economic life of Oliveira de Azeméis. Thanks to the force of the water, numerous mills on both sides of the river milled flour that gave "food" to another complementary activity - the manufacture of the famous Ul bread.
The rice husking, which gradually was modernized, gaining importance and priority to the present day, also started with the use of the water mills.
The grinding continues to maintain great vitality here, and the Ul bread still tastes good.
In Oliveira de Azeméis are implanted the largest national husking and packaging of the rice industry.
These spaces provide both the walking paths and the access to the multiple mills scattered through the park area, which are named for their location: Ponte da Igreja, Adães/Azevilheira and Crasto/Dois Rios.
