The villages of Soutelo and Povoa da Serra, in Fontes, about seven kilometers from the parish seat, are surrounded by the towering and indomitable Marão. They are fascinating places where nature (and fresh air) remains, for now, unscathed. In a slope of the mountain, bright a watercourse that runs from the heights, thickens and comes to rush in the depths of the legendary "Poço Escuro". It was the water falling (waterfall) that dug the cliff on the hard rock of the riverbed.
Going down, cultivated shims occupy the uneven steep of the soil. A subsistence agriculture, the power of the water and the humus, gives everything: vegetables and corn. But also produces olive oil, wine and chestnuts.
From the houses (concentrate style) still remaining houses of "black stone" (so called the shale, markedly darker) covered by slate.
