The “Mezio”’ Gate is an infrastructure whose main purpose is to disclose, inform and promote awareness and environmental education of visitor, aiming at a better understanding of the components and mechanisms ruling the natural system, providing scientific and technological knowledge for the correct use of natural space. The Gate is endowed with properly fitted equipment capable of capturing the visitor’s attention, retaining him, and avoiding the wild and unregulated use space: Reception and Information Centre, Museum Centre, PNPG Building, Home Shelters, Thematic Workshop, Biodiversity Park, an “Agro-Silvo-Pastoral Complex of the Serra da Peneda and Soajo”, a Lookout Tower, as well as a Picnic Park and Pool.
The “Mezio” Gate develops a set of environmental related education activities for schools, institutions as well as for families or other groups including accompaniment and monitoring for specific actions. The recreational and pedagogical actions promoted, aim to adopt a conscientious of environmental behaviour.
