Serra do Muro de Vandoma (Baltar Mountain)

Paredes
Description
The Muro de Vandoma/Baltar Mountain is designated, in medieval documents, as “mons Benidoma” or “Bendoma” being an important reference for the surrounding territory. This place has the maximum altitude of 519 meters. It has natural conditions of defense and a wide range visual domain. The name “Serra do Muro” (Muro Mountain) comes from the existence of a wall that surrounds the mountain 4 meters wide and has a perimeter of 3.927 meters in a continuous but irregular circuit. It is classified as “Castro do Muro de Vandoma”, and its remains show it was occupied since the proto-history until the Middle Ages. It is classified as Public Interest Property.
