Santo (Holy) House / History of Phylloxera - Provesende

Sabrosa
Description
The Casa do Santo is a beautiful building dating from the XVIII century, which belonged to Joaquim Pinheiro de Azevedo Leite Pereira, who became known as the "savior of the Douro," because he found ingenious ways to root the phylloxera out, which was decimating the vineyards in the late XIX century.
