Afurada is a fishing village whose patron is Saint Peter.
People of great devotion, the fishermen pay the duly homage to the Saint with stately, where beyond the religious ceremonies it is present the traditional grilled sardines and the typical “Broa de Avintes” (type of bread) and the fireworks. This festivity reaches its peak, when the procession comes out, which portable platform transport images of Saints of natural size, followed by its faithful’s duly dressed with the traditional garments of the fishing people.
To the passage in front of the River Douro, we proceed to the boats blessing, accompanied by the ring of sirens and mortars.
This festivity initiates on the 29th of June, Saint Peter’s day and prolonging during a week.
