The Regional Museum of Cucujães, located in the building of the former “Escola Primária Progresso” (Progress Elementary School), was open on the 13th of July of 2002 and has a collection of great value. It collects implements of different traditional activities, regional costumes and even archaeological materials.
In this space the visitors can learn, a bit, how the life of their ancestors was or even remember the old days. After all, this is one of the goals of this museum: provide a tour through the past.
Besides the museum area, the Regional Museum of Cucujães promotes several cultural activities, especially the “Desfolhadas à Moda Antiga” and “Concertinas” , which bring together in Cucujães dozens of "concertinistas" of the region. In 2009 it was responsible for organizing a unique exhibition dedicated to the linen and the people who worked on it.
Here started the “Grupo de Cantares do Museu Regional de Cucujães” and the “Grupo de Bombos e Gigantones “Os Janizários”. Nowadays it also promotes a School of “Concertinas”.
