Come and get to know the birth of the portuguese nation, meet Guimarães, capital of the old Portucalense county, meet Braga, headquarters of one of the most ancient and biggest dioceses of the peninsula. They used to be the capitals of political-military and religious powers in the beginning of the portuguese nacionality which are shown in the monuments.
We will start by going to Guimarães, to see Castle of Guimarães, above Field of São Mamede, where the battle for the portuguese independence took place. In it's imediations, you can see the Church of São Miguel do Castelo, where the first king, D. Afonso Henriques, is supposed to have been baptized. Despite being from a previous time, the tour to Palace of Dukes of Bragança, which was the fourth and last dynasty of Portugal, is also of great importance. Walking through the narrow streets on the historic downtown, we shall see the Largo de Oliveira, the Praça de São Tiago and Largo do Toural. The following destination is the neighbor and also rival, the city of Braga, where we will find lunch with the finest cooking from Minho served with good vinho verde from the region. Afterwards, we'll visit the very old Cathedral of Braga. Near the city, we'll have to make a quick final stop at Mostery of São Martinho de Tibães, that dates to the beginning of the nationality.
At the end of this tour, we will return to the hotel.
