In the House of the Careto we find the record of the carnival tradition of the village of Podence, associated with Caretos, represented in the canvases of the painters Graça Morais and Balbina Mendes and in the photographs of António Pinto and Francisco Salgueiro. There are exposed the clothes, the rattles, the masks and costumes of all these seductive and enigmatic figures, as the only beings that are respected by Caretos in their mischief, screaming and chocalhadas from Sunday to Tuesday of Carnival, the matrafonas.
