Perfectly blended with the Historical Centre, we find the “Capela do Senhor” a small temple of Roman structure in granite with baroque embellishment classified as property of public interest. Restored in 2005.
REGENERATION PROJECT
This project was developed between 2008 and 2012 and involves two areas of intervention. The historical centre and the Town centre, the latter consisting of the two main avenues and the block around the high school.
The work is concerned with the use of public spaces. Through the design of roadways, pavements, squares and plazas the project has sought to improve accessibility and mobility at the same time reinforcing the sense of identity and heritage of the historic centre. The infrastructure for the supply of water, electricity, telecommunication and sanitation has been improved and the road signs for traffic and tourism extended. The street furniture has been changed and there has been an increase in pedestrianized areas and green spaces.
