Gastronomia - Amares (Gastronomy of Amares)

Amares
Description
Travel in the flavours and wonderful aromas of traditionally prepared dishes with all the delicacy and care, which are appropriate over the seasons and, in consequence, of the products which nature gives.

We suggest the “Papas de Sarrabulho” (Dish made with Shredded Meat and bread), “Rojões à Minhota” (Cubed pork meat with various meat sausages), “Cozido à Portuguesa" (Cooked Meats with Vegetables), "Arroz de Pato” (Duck rice), “Bacalhau” (Cod Fish cooked in several ways), “Perna de Porco” (Leg of pork roasted in the oven), “Vitela Assada” (Roasted Veal) and “Arroz pica-no-chão” (Chicken rice).

For desserts, the municipality of Amares suggests: “Leite-crème queimado” (Caramelized Creamy Custard), “Pudim de Laranja” (Orange Pudding), “Arroz Doce” (Sweet Rice pudding), “Mexidos” or “Formigos” (bread pudding with various dried fruits, liquor and sultanas), “Rabanadas” (Bread Sweet fritters), “Pêras Bêbadas” (Pears cooked in red wine with sugar with cinnamon), “Bolo Rei” (Traditional Royal Cake), “Pão-de-Ló” (Sponge cake), “Doces de Romaria” (variety of typical festival cakes), and the natural juicy orange.
