The small village of Entre-os-Rios is an urban center situated in the mouth of river Tamega in the Douro region, designated by “burgo” since the Middle Ages. Its importance was developed by the foundation of the convent of Santa Clara do Torrão in the Modern Age, explained by its connection with the river, by which the products coming from Porto or the Alto Douro ccirculated. Throughout the village you can admire the quality of traditional architecture being the ideal place to enjoy two gastronomic specialties associated to the river - lamprey and shad - completing the meal with traditional confectionary. On the Holy Thursday is celebrated the “Endoenças” (religious Festivities that take place on the Holy Thursday) with the Procession crossing the river Tâmega, being the slopes of the banks of both rivers, the boats and the neighbourhood illuminated with thousands of candles, turning the place into an unique night scenery.
