Douro River

Cinfães
Description
Douro River born in the province of Soria - Urbião Mountain, in Spain, and it’s a river that runs through northern Portugal to arrive into the Atlantic Coast, in an area with the same Foz name, between Porto and Gaia.

With a 850 km route between the Iberian Peninsula, develops itself through 213 km of national territory, occupying an area of approximately 18,643 km2 of water that makes it a peaceful singular beauty river.

When sailing Douro is common to see many different birds (ducks, herons, eagles, vultures and gulls), as well as a wide brand of various fishes (scales, eels, trout, carp, black bass and pike).

In the geographical area of Cinfães, there is one of the best abbeys in the river, created from the construction of a dam Carrapatelo. This observation highlights the width and pressure of the navigation channels, as well as the most diverse recreational areas arranged between Porto Antigo and Escamarão.

With margins of high value and perfect landscapes, tourist and cultural enjoyment of the Douro River is beginning to be noted in Cinfães, whose leisure area is easily accessible via the Oporto area.
