Dolmen of Vilarinho da Castanheira

Carrazeda de Ansiães
Description

This dolmen, also known as Pala da Moura, is part of a type that is frequently seen in megalithic funerary architecture. It is a polygonal chamber made up of eight pillars, which include the headstone. It has a cover and corridor facing east. Four megaliths, apparently still in place, can be seen from the original corridor. On the inner part of one of the pillars there are subtle traces of a primitive pictorial composition.
