Here we find the record of the carnival tradition of the village of Podence, associated with Caretos, represented in the canvases of the painters Graça Morais and Balbina Mendes and other artists from the region, photographs and some publications.There are exposed the clothes, the rattles, the masks and costumes of all these seductive and enigmatic figures, as the only beings that are respected by Caretos in their mischief, screaming and “chocalhadas” from Sunday to Tuesday of Carnival, the “matrafonas”.
