The Dam of Paradela has over 110 metres altitude and is located in the catchment area of the River Cávado, was completed in the year 1956, being a dam embankment subtype sort of a type junction.
The lagoon has a capacity of 164.5 hm3, with an area of 380 hectares and a gap of 72 m. Has a maximum discharge capacity of 720 m ³/n. crowning length is about 540 m, with a landfill volume of 2,700,000 m ³.
The hydroelectric power station is composed of a Francis type vertical axis group, with a total installed power of 54 MW, able to produce on average about year of 256, 7GWh.
