The arrival at the small village of Ermida is marked by a sign that stands next to a fantastic viewpoint. Wherever you are, you will see the animals freely grazing in the fields. Cattle breeding and agriculture are the most important economic activities of Ermida. Next to the main church it is situated the Núcleo Museológico da Ermida (Museum Center) where the old forest house used to be. In this space it is possible to appreciate the cultural heritage of the region, mainly the Pedra dos Namorados (Fiancé Stone) and the monolithic monument representing a female figure. Branda de Bilhares, two kilometers up from Ermida is a place we have to go. By a stone pavement path, sometimes obstructed by the cattle, you will reach the “branda” (buildings in granite masonry, used in summer when men go with cattle for grazing).
