Located in one of the oldest parts of town, focused in the garden with the same name of the illustrious explore, the museum started on April 20th, in 2000, and has been contributing to a new cultural dynamic between the inhabitants.
The building where the museum currently operates didn’t have the perfect building structure to allow the elaboration of nature exhibitions. However, the space was rebuilt and reorganized to be able to create a museum of conservation, promotion and research within the existing dimensions.
Through the patents exhibitions, the visitor can enjoy some of the most important assets that belonged to the intrepid explorer A. Serpa Pinto, such as copies of first editions of his book, telegrams, personal items and professional reproductions of uniforms, and so on.
The archaeological collection resulting from excavations and investigations in some parishes of the county, and the traces relating the expansion time of the Roman Empire is also one of the best attractions of the museum.
In addition to those, also works in the Museum Serpa Pinto, temporarily, the Tourist Office for promotion and any kind of information, as well as a local craft shop tourist-oriented.
