Children's Theater “What is Christmas?
Date: DECEMBER 18, 2021
Time: 4:30 pm
Location: Emerging Cultural Center
Recipients: Children of pre-school and 1st cycle age
Duration: 45 min (approximately)
Synopsis:
On Christmas Eve, an unexpected news came to change the mood of the characters who were preparing for the Christmas party. Santa Claus was kidnapped and with him the gifts. An enigma is launched that should be unraveled among those who celebrate Christmas: “what is Christmas?”.
Discouragement and restlessness take hold of the characters who believe that without presents it's the end of Christmas. But it becomes urgent to unravel the enigma. Lost in the search for meaning, the characters will look to the audience for answers that will be key to unraveling the enigma.
The conclusion will naturally be satisfactory. Among many possible interpretations, the show ventures: Christmas is the feast of gifts, but it is also the feast that celebrates birth, change and recognition of the best that can inhabit in human beings.
In this sense, the show highlights the importance of the “Christmas spirit” in the daily exercise, for the construction of a Being more aware of oneself and the other. It is in this formula that the exchange of “gifts” takes place and Christmas survives.
Children are grateful.
In an amusing register, in which the symbolism and magic of the characters are combined, the show celebrates the (re)cognition of the best that Christmas can offer.
Art sheet:
Original text, staging, scenographic devices and costumes: Tó Maia
Other texts: Fernando Pessoa, Sophia M. Breyner
