The Festivalname, “Música à sua Porta” is referring to the occurring place, next to the beautiful city’s monument, the “Porta Mexia Galvão” (an old stone made arch/gate). The event takes place during the first days of August, the 3 concerts unfolding outdoor in an intimate atmosphere turning this festival into a unique event that offers to the public moments of pure delight. The performed repertoire includes work from the most relevant composers that belonged to the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, under the direction of the “Orquestra con Spirito” (Spirit Orchestra), an orchestral formation composed by professional musicians born in Viana do Castelo region. This festival also traditionally promotes Viana do Castelo talented musicians. During the four editions that already took place appeared as solo musicians “António Silva” (trumpet), “João Ramos” (clarinet), “Filipa Lima” (flute), “Henrique Fernandes” (flute), “Samuel Abreu”  (bass), “Jorge Castro” (bass), “Sara Amorim” (singing), “Alexandre Ferreira” (violin), “David Cruz” (cello), “Ana Catarina Pinto” (violin),  “Luis Domingues” (horn) and “Luis Pipa” (piano). The “Orquestra con Spirito” is directed by viana’s maestro “Paulo Areias”. The entrance is free of charge.
