Casa de Pascoaes is about three kilometers from the town Amarante in a small village called Gatão. It is a manor house from the seventeenth century, with a small part from the sixteenth century. The house belonged to the paternal grandmother of Teixeira de Pascoaes, doctor of the royal house. The house has remained in the same family for more than four generations.
What make this house so special is not only the details of its architectural beauty but its prime views over the Marão mountains or its proximity to the Tamega river. The House of Pascoaes is unique because of who lived there: The Teixeira de Vasconcelos, or Pascoaes Amarante.
They lived celabrating life. The portuguese poet Teixeira de Pascoaes lived and wrote most of his work here.
