Next to the Caldas Avenue and to the Municipal Archives as well, we can find the Village Fountain, an interesting manueline style fountain, dating back to the XVI century.
It is located below the street pavement, and it can be reached through a stairway consisting of three flights of stairs in between the heights.
At the top, you can see the armillary sphere, the Royal Arms and the inscription on the frieze, according to which the fountain was rebuit in 1652, under the command of Judge António da Mata Perestrelo.
Previously, this fountain supplied the village with drinkable water, starting from the spring located south of the village. This unique architectural complex deserves a visit.
