The Vila das Aves Cultural Center was inaugurated on July 3, 2005. The municipal equipment consists of a set of spaces for the promotion of cultural activities. The building is located in the urbanization of Fontainhas, at the central area of Vila das Aves, municipality of Santo Tirso, situated at the confluence of the rivers Vizela and Ave. The Cultural Centre holds an auditorium with a capacity of 160 seats, as well as other facilities distributed by its two floors. On the first floor it is located a multipurpose room, adapted to cultural and recreational activities, for its characteristics. The same floor houses a temporary exhibition room, four studios, a bar area and a patio. On the top floor works the administrative services, the labor offices and meeting rooms. On this floor there are several Cultural Center services working, such as the library, the children's reading room, multimedia room and access to the auditorium.
The regular activity of this municipal equipment comprises performing shows in the music, theater, film and dance areas. The library offers its users a reading room, a children's reading room and also a home-reading service. The media room has computers with internet access. The Cultural Center regularly holds exhibitions, reading support initiatives (Month Author and Story Time) and initiatives aimed at the public school, such as educational workshops.
