The "Trilho de Linhares” (Trail of Linhares) is a small route [PR] footpath which is part of the Municipal Hiking Routes of Carrazeda de Ansiães, marked and signed according to the european and national guidelines. This route covers the parish of Linhares, whose foundation is before the Portuguese nationality, its charter has been granted, in the XI century, by the Leonese King, Fernando “O Magno” (The Great). This beautiful place has significant heritage elements such as the parish church, dated from the XVIII century, the medieval bridge and the pillory. The trail starts next to the chapel of Our Lady of Fátima, near the parish church, where we turn left to enter in the heart of the village. We pass by the medieval bridge, the pillory and some houses that characterize the traditional architecture of Trás-os-Montes. Step by step we’re leaving the village of Linhares, to follow the unpaved paths, flanked by walls that divide and limit vineyards and farming fields. Soon after, we are in the chapel of S. Gonçalo, a small building with a hall, surrounded by a magnificent landscape with farming fields and vineyards. In this place, we turn left and continue the route that then leads us again to the interior of the village of Linhares. However, before finishing this route we advise going up to the top of the mountain of the castle of Linhares to enjoy the wonderful and wide panoramic view over the river Douro and the village of Linhares.
