In the Northeast of Portugal there is the most representative nucleous of dovecotes, although there are these constructions scattered throughout the country. The northeastern dovecotes are mainly characterized by a similar architecture, with an unmistakable configuration, even in a global context. They can be described by its circular or semicircular plan, thick, plastered and whitewashed stone walls. In a higher plan there is a single in and out flights doorway which is generally associated with paved levels, wood covering, with a roof or saddle roof or conic, covered with ceramic tiles or slate plate.
