The Water Clock is located in “Largo da Lapa” and considered an EX-LIBRIS of the Historical Nucleus of “Arcos de Valdevez”. The aquatic based architecture fountain, presents 48 vertical jets as scenic elements, every jet marking a passage of 15-minute intervals, each block representing 1 hour. The flow from the jets, goes down slopes and is collected in the lower plane, covered with a metal grill. The source works in a closed circuit with a fully automatic lighting system; the outer clock numbers are illuminated with white light, with different levels of light intensity, thus obtaining different colour shades.
The source is described by the contemporary French thinker Marc Augé as followed:
"Oh Time
Suspend your flight!
Willingly
Said “Time”,
But for how long? "
Location: Arcos de Valdevez
