The Park of Vale do Bestança
The River Bestança is one of the greatest natural examples of our generations. As a pure element and without any human action to change it, combines perfectely its natural characteristics to the defining moments of enjoyment of man, minimized by routes of cattle transhumance and use of the driving force of water to flour and yeast. The watershed is represented in letters 136 and 146 of the Army Cartographic Services [5] framed in its entirety, in the administrative area of the municipality of Cinfães. Born in Portas de Montemuro, at an elevation of 1229 meters altitude and runs through slopes and terraces over a distance of about 13.5 km to empty into the 100 meters in Porto Antigo, as a tributary of the Douro River.
The abundancy of water from tributaries courses provided by the granitic substratum of the whole valley, prints a natural green tone to all banks, expertly molded in grazing terraces that convey a rich landscape of huge value and attractive potential.
For all the potential and wealth of the valley, the course Bestança River is full of traces of occupation of medieval and pre-medieval people, who, without any damage to the green and natural element that now prevails, have settled here for many years .
