The Brandas’ track

Description
The Brandas’ track is a small pedestrian route, located in the Gavieira’s mountain village, in Arcos de Valdevez’s county.

Realized in the heart of the “Serra da Peneda” (Peneda’s Hill), this route take us to discover the pasturing ways of life of the mountains’ population.

The track allows us to know the Grovelas’ Branda, temporary housing nucleus which linked to the needs of the population, use the pastures located in the hills to feed cattle; by the Poulo da Seida, an old cattle’s branda, which allows a safe overnight to the shepherds and their flocks, in order to protect them from the cold and the wolf threat, and the wolf’s den, an old and archaic construction which aimed hunt the wolf, trapping him.

After appreciating this beautiful mountain scenery, we return the same way, to reach the Rouças’ village, where the route was started.
