TEATRAÇO is an amateur theatre company of Tabuaço that takes the name of Tabuaço and its culture across the entire country.
TEATRAÇO is like a school that teaches us to be more sensitive and wise, and have a different perspective of life and art, allowing us to communicate with the world and to show our culture and traditions.
TEATRAÇO was an original idea by Nucha Martins, who knew about the theatrical traditions in the municipality of Tabuaço and challenged the actor and director Beto Coville, who is currently the director of TEATRAÇO, to form a theatre company.
The idea was only possible with the will of the people in making this commitment, which fortunately soon happened. The first challenge was overcome: the Association was established by public deed in September 2007.
Since then, the theatre company has been a real adventure for a group of people of different ages, with a common interest – the theatre.
The first play – les Précieuses Ridicules, or the Affected Ladies, by Molière – was staged in April 2008. Soon other plays were staged all over the country.
TEATRAÇO is without a doubt the theatre company in Portugal with more sponsors. The population of Tabuaço has supported it by watching the shows staged in Tabuaço through the ETAT – the annual theatre meeting of Tabuaço.
