St. Gregory Fair

Armamar
Description
Celebrated on the 17th of March in Santa Cruz near the holy chapel. In times past the saint was venerated in a special way by the workers of the Douro vineyards, once since this date they became entitled to have snacks, which were then dropped on the day of Sra. Dos Remedios, on the 8th of September.

This Fair is very busy because there are traded essentially products and tools for agriculture, handicrafts (tinwork) and sweets (the” falachas”, sweet speciality based on chestnut flour). It was also at this fair where the tops were sold for   children to play.
