Description
The "Quinta da Portela" located in Torre de Moncorvo County is owned by the same family for three generations.

It is a property that currently, and after the construction of the Baixo Sabor dam, has an approximate area of 300 hectares. The dwelling house is a typical "transmontana" house. Within the property there are two chapels - "Senhora do Roncal" and "Santo Izidro", patron of farmers, where once came the procession on the day of the saint.

Still within the "Quinta" there is a National Monument - "Ruínas da Vila Velha da Vilariça" - previous location in the village of Torre de Moncorvo, where over the years have been made excavations and studies by teams of archaeologists. There are graves dug in the rock.

The farm is in its entire length skirted by Sabor River (right bank), and before the dam construction came even to the mouth of Ribeira da Vilariça. Right now is the bank of a body of water created by the dams of Baixo Sabor amount and downstream.

The farm is crossed by IP2 and is located near a new Rotunda recently built from where the access to the Horta da Vilariça, Foz do Sabor, Estevais, Cardanha and Adeganha and yet for Torre de Moncorvo, Foz Coa, Celorico da Beira and Guarda.

The farm has given name to the bridge crossing the Sabor River (either the old or the new) - BRIDGE of PORTELA.
