The name of Barca do Lago, in the parish of Gemeses, is due to the fact that at least since the seventeenth century to the late nineteenth century, this place there was a boat to pass people, cars, animals and pilgrims between both banks of the river Cávado.
In the chapel of the Senhora do Lago flocked annually in 1. Third Sunday of August, many pilgrims this county, some of whom come from the Town and Village of Fao which until now moving on after ornamented boats to join the fluvial procession that takes place on Sunday.
The image of the Senhora do Lago is transported in a boat along the river, and then transported to the churchyard opposite the local chapel where a speaker gives the sermon.
