The Largo dos Artistas, located in the heart of the city, owes its current name to the craftsmen who gathered there to capture new workers. Even in the Middle and Modern Ages there were carpenters, caulkers, tailors and others. These meetings were continued until the mid-twentieth century where, in then Largo do Senhor da Cruz, were professionals working in the construction industry.
This monument, inaugurated on May 1, 2002, is dedicated to “vilacondenses” workers who contributed to the expansion of the city. The three figures, built on a human scale and designed by the sculptor Manuel Sousa Pereira, represent a carpenter, a trowel and a mason.
Location: Vila do Conde
