Gandra
In the liturgical calendar, the feast of São Martinho is celebrated on November 11. This saint is the patron saint of tailors, knights, beggars, wine producers, soldiers ... horses, geese, and patron of an endless series of locations. The fact of the São Martinho coincide with the time of year when we celebrate the cult of the dead and the height of the rural calendar ending in agricultural work and begins to make use of crops (wine, fruits, animals) takes that this party have a component score of exuberance.
São Martinho day is invoked in the religious ceremonies of places of worship and their spirit of solidarity remembered, for example, by reporting the episode in which he shared his cloak with a poor.
In the parish of Gandra and rest a bit throughout Portugal, this time people are busy with magustos. In the final part of the festive cycle closes with São Martinho where you eat nuts and proves the wine.
Note:
The Party committees are responsible for the dates of the activities/festivities and therefore we are totally unrelated to changes that may arise. For further information or clarification please contact the Party committees, parish councils or local tourism unit, or, contact us.
