The Trail of Portas da Vila it is a pedestrian trail of Small Route (PR) marked and signposted in accordance with European and rational guidelines. This "track" is the sixth pedestrian path integrated in the Municipal Network of Santa Marta de Penaguião, promoted by the municipality. The track, in its five kilometers away, leads us to the heart of this beautiful Duriense County, leading us to visit part of the "twinned" parishes of S. Miguel de Lobrigos and S. João Baptista of Lobrigos. Church of San Miguel de Lobrigos, primitive, was founded in 1191. The old parish of S. João Baptista de Lobrigos was an abbey of the presentation of the Marquises of Arronches and was one of the richest abbeys of Portugal. This parish took advantage of the new charter, given by King Manuel I to Penaguião on 15 December 1519. This route starts in the chapel of the place of Laurentim, in the parish of S. Miguel de Lobrigos. We follow the old path bordered by walls that will "break" path in vineyard landscape and that was the access road to the town of Santa Marta de Penaguião. The landscape features throughout the year a true colour palette, but during the autumn season, this bucolic space enjoys the warm colours of yellow and red of the vines, enriching the landscape and privileging those who walk and visit the region. High above, it stands out in the landscape, the very old and simple chapel of Senhora da Guia, whose festival is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of August. Soon after a short visit, we go through traditional paths downward where some specimens of wild animals seem to welcome those who walk in silence, now appearing now disappearing suddenly. The old olive trees continue to flank and support the lands demarcated by schist walls, made by laborious and wiser hands of the people of this territory who have shaped this landscape, leaving us a unique legacy of high built quality in its many aspects: culture, environment, society and architecture. We delight touring by places of Outeiro, Casaria, Quinchosos, these belonging to the parish of S. João Baptista de Lobrigos. The various wine-producing farms stand out in the landscape, painting themselves with the various shades of the foliage of many varieties of vines that are produced here, to give origin to the "nectar" of the most aromatic and appreciated from the Douro region. We continue by these friendly places, to leave them gradually behind and started down again, through walls, narrow paths by unique landscapes that lead us to the place of Laurentim, which began this little journey, but great in fantastic panoramic views.
