General features:
Type of trail: Historic-Cultural (Small Route)
Distance: 4 Km
Difficulty: low
This small trail runs through the place of Parada and it is mainly historic-cultural trail. Here, we still can see the old typical houses of Alto Minho region as well as the centuries-old silos of great heritage value, going through the medieval paths. Following the red and yellow marks that stand out in the landscape, rich in oak and cork-oak trees and some holly, we are on purpose heading to the place of Parada. Once in the forest, and surrounded loose stone walls, we go directly to a place with a set of eight stones with engraved paintings “gravuras rupestres”, from the Bronze Age, being one of them named by “Penedo do Encanto” (Spell Rock). After visiting this monument, we follow the path about 1 km and we find ourselves again in the village of Parada. This trail is distinguished by its slopes and the quotas are about 500 meters above sea level. Along the trail we frequently find streams and a strong humanized landscape.
