The PR1- "Around the Castle of Arnoia and former Villa de Basto" is a small pedestrian route, circular, which develops in two rings. The departure and arrival happens in the village of Castle, former Villa de Basto who hosted the Celorico de Basto until the year 1719.
The route which defines the first ring by forest roads and the extension of 4250 meters takes us to the village of Castle Hill to the Calvelo, the top of which is located a small chapel. In this place we are invited to observe the Castle in its relationship with the village and the territory which it dominates.
The path defining the second ring is higher degree of difficulty and a little longer - 6750 meters. Early on and after passing by the restaurant located next to the interpretive center of the village, a steep descent takes us to the bottom of the valley where it dominates the culture of the vine, with passage by the House of Sequeiros - a eighteenth-century stately manor with chapel.
After passing a small water line the steep climb up to the viewpoint of Penícia. Arriving here was a must, not only to regain strength, but above all to behold the castle again. From this location we enjoy the almost inaccessible character of its location, given the strong Pendant location where it is installed. The landscape glimpsed this viewpoint is stunning - The sunken valley, farmland, rural and buildings there at the top, the imposing Castle Arnoia.
After this place and won the biggest difficulty was that the route back to the village the castle is made without major difficulty. Especially the stretch of traditional very old heave before reaching the place of Chelo. The final shot of this route is on the highway access road to the village and to the top of the Castle. A climb to the top of the keep to enjoy the territory and breathtaking scenery.
