The Parque Central is a completely multi-functional infrastructure. Rather than being just another car park, it contributes to the urban landscape of the town centre, offering a variety of services to the people of Maia.
The project by Architect Alfredo Ascenção has attempted to include this project within the strategic plan to modernise the centre of Maia, currently being carried out by a large team coordinated by Architect Eduardo Souto Moura. The Parque Central forms a triangle with the Praça Doutor José Vieira de Carvalho and the Sports Area. Together they form the new centre of Maia. The Parque itself was designed and built to achieve a perfect balance with the surrounding area.
The Parque Central da Maia has 21 shops that meet all the needs of its customers. A Tourist Office and Cybercafé complete this commercial area and together they make the nearby shops more dynamic.
