It is the oldest monument in the village, transitioning between the Romanesque and Gothic period, its construction probably began late 14th century, although in 1410, the “Sabadim”’ priest, Joao Domingues, referred wanting to be buried in the church he had built in “Arcos”. This small funerary chapel presents itself as “rudimentary”, as far as spatiality and decoration go, even though it is relevant to point out the decorative feature of the main entrance; a Gothic arch as well as the scarce vestiges of the paintings of the triumphal arch, probably dating back to the 15th century. The Confraternity’s institution of Our Lady of “Conceição” in 1691 and the construction of the altar carved in the 18th century, mark the last evolution related moments of the chapel, which, later, is doomed to total abandonment till the interventions of 1961 and 1968.
