Throughout the month of December, the historical centre of Vila Real has a special colourfulness and cosiness that not even the negative temperatures are felt at this time of the year, discourage the warmth given away by the Christmas music, the street and window-shopping decorations, and by the Nativity scenes that each of the twenty parishes create in this part of town.
There are twenty Nativity scenes, utilising mostly traditional materials, each one built according to the manner and taste of its workers, who evoke the Christmas season of and the celebration of the birth of Christ.
Certainly an attraction that brings hundreds of people go out to appreciate the streets of Vila Real.
