The Historical and Ethnographical Museum of Maia is located in Castêlo da Maia close to the Santo Ovídeo Park and Hill, in a building that was used as the Town Hall until 1902 and whose origin probably dates back to the 18th century.
The building's renovation as a museum provided three exhibition rooms and another room to welcome visitors as well as a working area.
The Museum's programme is based mainly on short or long temporary exhibitions so that collections can be moved around the municipality and the history and ethnography of Maia are known by everyone
