Museum of Terra Miranda

Miranda do Douro
Description
In 1545, Miranda do Douro raises from a village to a episcopal town. The first Town Hall  shows these two periods of the town’s history. So, on the second half of the XVII century, over the two arcades in barrel vaults of the former Bishop's Palace, it was built the modern part of the building, whose porch is supported by the previous structure, through five Tuscan colunms. According to the inscription on the balcony, from 1689,  the Judge,  Dr. Cardoso e Carvalho, ran the Domus Municipalis renovation. This building was also a Jail since 1790. In  1982  it  became the Museum of Terra de Miranda.
