The Town Hall and Jail of Lapa were the greatest symbols of the town as long as it was a county. Later, the building became the property of the Sanctuary of Lapa and then started the building restoration, becoming a place enriched by memories of the past, with traces of a common history and experience. The Lapa Museum has in its interior valuable testimonies of faith and devotion in Senhora da Lapa, including altarpieces painted by hand: the ex-votos.
