On 20th December, 2008 the Sacred Art Centre of Refojos Monastery was inaugurated. Located in the old sacristy and ante-sacristy the Benedictine Monastery of S. Miguel de Refojos, created through a partnership between the Municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto and Diocese of Braga. In these spaces a set of religious art pieces of undeniable historical value are exposed, including some paintings that have been attributed to the painter Francisco Correia (active between 1568 and 1616). In the sacristy, the room is dominated with furniture designed by Agostinho Marques to the Benedictine Monastery, as stated in the contract signed in 1717: Two chests, two built-in counters and a table. Next to the baroque altar (probably run in the three-year period from 1710 to 1713) that once housed a statue of Our Lady of Conception, are the sculptures of the Holy Trinity and the Virgin with the Child. This Centre of religious art includes the Museum of Terras de Basto.
