This is a Sacred Art Centre arising from a knowledge project of existing Heritage in the spaces already unaffected to worship in the ancient Monastery of S. Miguel de Refojos, the present church - the sacristy, ante-sacristy, hallways - dated from the 17th century.
The architecture of the entire museology space is of extraordinary quality, beauty and balance.
The entire interpretation of oil paintings on canvas allowed under copyright the identification of Francisco Correia - from c.1600/Mannerism.
It is a scientific breakthrough that places Cabeceiras de Basto on the compulsory Cultural Tour to appreciate the Mannerism and the strong influences of Giorgio Vasari, ancestor of this artistic chain and his best followers in Lisbon with Francisco Venegas and Diogo Teixeira. The appreciation of sculptural language is an irresistible challenge, for the quality and particularity. The Centre features Painting, Sculpture - wood and granite - and Architecture, in the visiting areas.
