Description
It is a sculptural element innaugurated on the 8th April/2005. It consists of a set which comprises a man working in the oven, and a baker charging a full basket with bread and cookies for sale. The baker holds the basket with the right hand and holds the “regueifa” (traditional bread of Valongo) with the left arm. It is a tribute to the bakers of Valongo, who produce the biscuits and the bread that every morning is appreciated by the people of Porto and its region.The monument recalls the identity and the economic activity of the municipality. It is located at the center of a roundabout with free access.
